A 40-year-old woman has been flown to hospital in Wellington after being stung by bees.

Westpac rescue helicopter crewman Logan Taylor says the woman was gardening at her home on the Kapiti Coast when she was stung six or seven times.

Mr Taylor says the stings made the woman feel unwell, and she called the ambulance.

Logan Taylor says the woman is not in a serious condition, although the reaction has given her a rash.

On Saturday a 62-year-old man disturbed a wasp nest on a property in Kenepuru Sound in Marlborough and died.
