Lewis Hamilton has clinched pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix for the first time in his Formula One career.
The world champion beat Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg by 0.342 seconds to take the top spot, while Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel came in third ahead of Red Bull Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo.
Rosberg had gained pole position in the past two years in Monaco, but Hamilton was able to get one up over his fellow Mercedes driver who he leads by 20 points in the driver's championship.
Pole position is even more crucial than usual at Monaco, with it being difficult to overtake on the slim racetrack.
The race takes place overnight.
