Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri will be in Italy tomorrow for lunch with his 96-year-old mother Renata rather than waiting to see if his old club Chelsea can hand him the Premier League title.
Leicester will take the trophy if Tottenham fail to win tomorrow morning's (NZT) game at Stamford Bridge. But Ranieri revealed after today's 1-1 draw against Manchester United that he will be flying back from Rome when the match takes place.
He said: "I will be the last man to know the result. I am going to Italy because I want to see my mother. It is important to see her and have lunch with her.
"So I will be on the plane when the game is happening. But that is OK. I am convinced that Tottenham will win their last three games, so we will concentrate on our next game against Everton.
"The players have a day off and maybe they will see the game."
Indeed, Leicester's players are planning to watch the Chelsea-Spurs match together in the hope of celebrating a fairytale title success.
Chelsea stars Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas have already indicated they want to stop Spurs winning the title.
How Leicester can win the title:
- Leicester need two points from final two fixtures (Everton home, Chelsea away) to secure the title.
- They will win the title if Tottenham fail to beat Chelsea tomorrow.
- If Spurs beat Chelsea, Leicester's next chance to secure the title is on Sunday morning NZT.
- Tottenham can win the title if they beat Chelsea, Southampton and Newcastle and Leicester either lose their final two games or draw and lose.
