Former Liverpool winger Ryan Babel is embroiled in a sexism storm after he aimed a vile remark towards a female Twitter user on Friday night.
Babel initially posted a tweet appearing to aim a dig at Real Madrid coach Rafa Benitez, which prompted the female user to question the Dutchman's motives behind his ill feeling towards Benitez.
"Why do you hate him so much? He's manager of Real Madrid while you beg your Twitter followers to add you on WhatsApp," wrote user @Shannxo.
Babel then responded by posting: "i think u should concentrate on growing some t*** instead of speaking about football... Ur a girl.. Stay in ur lane..".
He added: "At least let your brother or your boyfriend make the comment then we can argue...
"Not gonna argue with a lil girl, with all the respect.. C'mon now.
"Look i'm not this guy anymore who should be careful what i say, regardless if its childish or not.. I'm coming for you if i feel like it..
"I'm not saying you cant be a football fan as a girl or woman... Of course u can duhh... I'm just saying that "I" am NOT gonna argue with u about football!"
The 28-year-old's tweets were met with revulsion on the social media website, with one user urging him to "grow up and show respect to women".
