A man was left feeling sick after claiming he received a nasty surprise in his burger while dining at a popular pub.
Perth man Bruce Blackburn was celebrating Australia Day on January 26 with family at the Civic Hotel in the Perth suburb of Inglewood, when he says he bit down on a full-sized dead rodent.
Blackburn said he ordered three sliders with chips with no issues until he took a third bite of his burger and realised something was horribly wrong.
"The third bite, I couldn't actually bite it. I realised there was a full-fledged hairy mouse in the meat patty," Blackburn told Nine News.
"My reaction was to just drop it straight away and feel sick."
According to the couple, they received a refund but never got an apology.
His partner shared photos of the aftermath on her Facebook page, saying that it is a "health department issue".
"Having Australia Day lunch and this is what Bruce got in his burger. Health dept issue...he bit into a full mouse...f***ing yuk..."
The Facebook post has been shared more than 980 times with hundreds of people voicing their disgust at the incident.
"They should sue! CCTV will prove what happened," one wrote.
"Unbelievable! How did the kitchen miss this. As a chef I'm totally embarrassed and disgusted that professionals can let this happen," another said.
The Civic Hotel has refused to comment according to a number of media outlets.
