Famed shoe designer Jimmy Choo arrives in New Zealand on Wednesday and fashion fan girls and are said to be breaking nails trying to make the various invite lists.
Choo, whose brand was made even more famous by Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City, is already known to be a fan of New Zealand shoe designer, Kathryn Wilson and is also a follower of our Remix magazine.
Remix publisher Tim Phin told Spy: "I met him when I was in Malaysia as part of their tourism programme. We clicked as he is such a genuine guy. He thought Remix was one of the best magazines in the world. That's when we suggested we can host him in New Zealand."
Choo will stay at the SkyCity Grand Hotel and intends to take a chopper ride to Waiheke Island with Wilson. He will be hitting the harbour on a mega-launch with some of the city's high rollers and will also host a private dinner at Masu.
Selected media will be hosted at a breakfast at the Sugar Club on Thursday morning.
He will also speak at a Westpac Business lunch later in the day at Westpac HQ in Britomart, with the bank's "well-heeled" clients who can afford Jimmy Choo heels, which sell, on average, for $1200 a pair.
At the Remix cocktail party at SkyCity theatre that night, guests will have a chance to meet the design legend. VIP guests include fashion designers Francis Hooper, Denise L'Estrange-Corbet and Murray Crane, hairdressing greats Paul Serville and Rodney Wayne and celebrities Stan Walker and girlfriend Lou Tyson. Wilson is designing a special installation for the evening.
The fashionista question of the week? Choo, who sold his shares in the business bearing his name in 2001, is about to launch a new fashion label - the scoop will be getting the name.
