Opening Fashion Week on Tuesday morning, Twenty-seven Names surprised everyone (and shocked those who'd just had a fresh blow wave especially for the occasion) by asking the audience to head to the carpark outside for their show - which happened in light drizzle.
The foundations of Stolen Girlfriends Club are a little bit rock 'n' roll, so it's fitting the brand's 10th birthday show featured a stage dive. In the show, held on the St James Theatre stage, model Derya Parlak went head first into the crowd wearing a mock band shirt, much to the audience's delight.
Real life comes to the runway: the marriage proposal on the catwalk at the Miromoda show between designers Hohepa Thompson and Mia Brennan who met at the event three years ago. Genuine, not staged and cheesy.
Held off-site in a carpark, Ruby's Thursday night show was made even better by a enthusiastic performance from comedian Chris Parker and the Dynamotion dance crew, who successfully poked fun at and amped up the fashion crowd. Their confused yet delighted look was priceless.
Project Runway winner Sean Kelly's show on Thursday offered a glamorous take on red carpet dressing that was largely missing from NZFW this year - plus plenty of risque flashes of flesh, with the closing model walking the runway in a bejewelled red mesh dress with nothing more than a G-string underneath.
