Each week, expat Kiwis tell us what they most love about living by Queensland's beaches. Today we hear from Diana Ryan, Director of Studies at Martin College on the Gold Coast.
Southeast Queensland is "beautiful one day, perfect the next".
A great place to base yourself for adventures is the Sheraton Mirage on Main Beach. It has fab food, great decor, an ocean-front setting and wonderful ambience. Another option is the Marina Mirage across the road, which has wonderful waterfront restaurants.
A trip to Mt Tamborine gives you a bird's-eye view of the GC and surrounding hinterland.
Walks at Mt Warning are always relaxing. Head to Burleigh Heads for the beaches.
The views at Burleigh Heads Hill or the observation deck at Q1 are stunning.
The more adventurous should try the champagne balloon rides in the morning.
After a day of sightseeing, head to George's Paragon at Sanctuary Cove for seafood.
For great local produce, go to Miami Organic Markets on a Sunday or the farmers' markets at Marina Mirage.
My Kiwi girlfriends love shopping at Robina and Pacific Fair is currently undergoing a $600m refurbishment. Another option is to stroll around Tedder Ave, Main Beach or Harbour Town for some really great outlet bargains. Don't forget the Carrara Markets on Saturday and Sunday.
Try Palazzo Versace at Main Beach for a great spa experience.
There's so much to look forward to on the Gold Coast. Book in for the 2018 Commonwealth Games, the annual GC 600 or Gold Coast Marathon.
