David Cassidy, the TV star, singer and 1970s heartthrob, has died aged 67.
Cassidy was recently rushed to a Florida hospital after suffering organ failure. He was placed in an induced coma and was being cared for in the intensive care unit.
Earlier this year Cassidy had revealed that he was in the early stages of dementia. His mother and grandmother had also suffered from the disease.
Cassidy's publicist Jo-Ann Geffen has confirmed this singer-actor's passing.
"David died surrounded by those he loved, with joy in his heart and free from the pain that had gripped him for so long," she said. "Thank you for the abundance and support you have shown him these many years."
Cassidy rose to fame as Keith Partridge, the lead singer on the popular American musical sitcom The Partridge Family, in 1970.
The fictional band had several hits, including I Think I Love You, which sold over 5million copies going to number 1 in the Billboard chart.
