Actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus has revealed she is battling breast cancer.
The 56-year-old Veep star took to Twitter today sharing the shocking news with a photo of a personal note, the Daily Mail reports.
"Just when you thought..." she tweeted, with the image attached. "1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, I'm the one.
"The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family, and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union.
"The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let's fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality."
No other details about her condition were immediately available.
The actress' rep told US Weekly: "Julia is incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support and well wishes."
Earlier this month, the Veep star won her sixth consecutive Emmy.
She set the record for most wins for a performance in the same role for the same series with that win.
Veep recently announced that the upcoming 7th season of the HBO show will be its last.
The actress has two children with actor Brad Hall, who she has been married to for 20 years.
She is best known for her role as Elaine Benes on Seinfeld.
