Jane Seymour might've spent years as the reigning queen of acting but despite all her accolades, there was one role the British actress is still heartbroken about missing out on.
Speaking to Stellar today, Seymour revealed it was a role in the Australian outback miniseries The Thorn Birds that she "coveted more than life itself".
It was the role of Meggie Cleary, an Aussie farmer girl who falls for her Catholic priest, Father Ralph de Bricassart.
And, considering Seymour's acting chops, most would assume she would score the part with ease - but not if her body had anything to say about.
The now 66-year-old actress had just given birth to her first child Katherine and in order to look like a teenager, Seymour was advised to stop breastfeeding a month before her audition.
All was well until the day of the audition where she was reading lines with Richard Chamberlain, the actor set to play Father Ralph.
"My milk came back in, all over Richard," she told the publication.
"Somehow I lactated onto his bare chest! It was not good - quite a puddle, you would say. It was the most embarrassing thing," she added.
Seymour's horrifying audition unfortunately didn't land her the job and the then 31-year-old actress was replaced by Aussie actress Rachel Ward.
And despite Seymour going on to score numerous Golden Globe nominations and wins for roles in other acclaimed TV shows, losing out on The Thorn Birds is still a sore spot for the former Bond girl.
"I have never seen [The Thorn Birds]. I was so devastated that I never watched it," she said.
The Thorn Birds, written by Australian author Colleen McCullough in 1977, is still the best selling book in Australian history and has sold over 33 million copies worldwide.
The novel's 1983 adaptation to a TV miniseries proved to be just as popular with fans, winning numerous awards and becoming America's second highest-rated miniseries of all time behind Roots.
