So don't judge me, but Riverdale is my new obsession on Netflix. Even Lorde has admitted she is a fan, so that's all the endorsement you need, right? I only recently found out it's based on the Archie comic characters, which I've never read, but you don't need to, to enjoy this teen drama. I would describe it as a mix between Dawson's Creek and Gossip Girl, and it stars our own KJ Apa, formerly of Shorty Street, doing a flawless American accent. If I still haven't convinced you, how about this? It's clocked up a solid 87 per cent positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Go KJ!
I have recently discovered barre. I was so confused when my girlfriends asked me to go to a beginners' class, and it's just as well I didn't do my research as I may have chickened out! I go to Xtend Barre in Ponsonby, but there are studios all over the world. It's a body-sculpting class that combines ballet barre, Pilates, yoga and strength conditioning.
Basically you get a really kick-ass workout, while feeling like a ballet dancer. It sounds scary and pretentious, but I promise it's the opposite. There are women of every strength level, including some amazing dancers, and all are very encouraging. I tell you, I'm hooked!
I can't implore you enough to go and check out the Pop-Up Globe Theatre in Ellerslie.
Even if you don't fully appreciate Shakespeare, this will convert you. The working replica of Shakespeare's open-air Globe Theatre is only here for a limited time, offering a range of plays from comedy through to tragedy. I went to see Othello and it was the best! Get in now, before they ship out in May.
I have only ever delved into a few podcasts and they have to be really good to hook me in. Missing Richard Simmons is definitely worth it. It is exactly what it sounds like - an in-depth search into the whereabouts of fitness guru Richard Simmons. You know, the guy from the Air NZ safety videos... Turns out he hasn't been seen in public for more than 1000 days. From kidnap to murder, the rumours abound. And the more they dig, the stranger it gets. Tune in!
