Rapper Kanye West is reportedly turning his colourful life story into a movie - and he wants Will Ferrell to play him.
The husband of Kim Kardashian has been in talks with the Elf star to help create a funny box office hit, Dish Nation reports.
Insiders say the 39-year-old hip-hop star has already discussed "hilarious" plot ideas with Ferrell, who he once described as a "living, breathing god".
A source says: "Kanye has been thinking about this for a long, long time and he has been trading ideas and discussions with Will to make a funny comedy about his life.
"But rather than take himself too seriously, he really feels it has to be a comedy and not a preachy film. He wants it to be an easy watch, filled with laughter just like the movies he loves."
The Life of Pablo star is a huge fan of the comedian, and is said to be obsessed with Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Zoolander and Step Brothers. He even had a cameo in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.
West has previously praised Ferrell for his films, calling him a "living, breathing god" in a blaze of tweets in February.
"I just want to thank Will Ferrell for the years of joy he has brought into my life with amazing comedy," he said in one tweet.
According to Dish Nation, West wants Ferrell's writing partner, Adam McKay, to get involved in the biopic, which will chronicle his rise from humble beginnings.
He also wants his romance with reality TV star Kim Kardashian to feature in the film.
"He's exchanged various ideas with Will and his comedy partner Adam (McKay) and doesn't want a young actor playing him," an insider says.
"Instead, he's suggested playing the role himself, aged 13, sitting in his bedroom writing lyrics and sporting a comedy pair of braces to emphasise the point home. Will and Adam are both very open to the idea and think they can come up with enough comic material, with the help of Kanye, to put together a comedy film just as good as what they've worked on before."
