We've never heard Donald Trump utter (or tweet) the phrase "You talkin' to me?"

But the actor whose character in the 1976 film Taxi Driver made the line famous might be able to imagine such a thing. Robert De Niro on Saturday likened Travis Bickle - the uneducated, mentally ill vigilante he played in the movie - to Trump.

"He is totally nuts," De Niro said of the GOP presidential nominee at the Sarajevo Film Festival during a Q&A session, according to the Associated Press. Later, asked by film buffs about Bickle's mental illness, De Niro found a parallel in Trump. He recalled that at the end of Taxi Driver, Bickle is hailed as a hero.

"One of the things to me was just the irony at the end - he (Bickle) is back driving a cab, celebrated, which is kind of relevant in some way today, too," De Niro said. "People like Donald Trump - who shouldn't be where he is so ... God help us."
