Something strange happened on last night's news, in which for no apparent reason, a presenter told his colleague he thought she was "hot" on air.
On Thursday's 6pm Newshub, weather presenter Kanoa Lloyd rounded off a short piece about lava from Hawaii's Kilauea Volcano hitting the ocean, before saying New Zealand was in for thunder and lightning.
Moving on, news presenter Simon Shepherd said: "I still think you're hot, Kanoa".
The off-the-cuff comment seemed to take everyone by surprise, with Sam Hayes lifting an eyebrow, but it was all in light-hearted fun.
Fans and fellow newshounds Ingrid Hipkiss and Paula Penfold took to Twitter today to back up Shepherd, showering compliments on Lloyd.
