Will Smith has finally admitted what everyone already knew: Wild Wild West was a little bit rubbish.
The 1999 film starred Smith in the comedy steampunk Western, but it struggled commercially and was a flop with critics.
The superstar told The Hollywood Reporter he'd gotten too big for his boots when he made Wild Wild West, which he wrote and sang the theme tune for.
"I had so much success that I started to taste global blood and my focus shifted from my artistry to winning," Smith said.
"I wanted to win and be the biggest movie star, and what happened was there was a lag. Around Wild Wild West time, I found myself promoting something because I wanted to win versus promoting something because I believed in it."
Smith said he "tricked" fans into seeing the film but because of the power of word of mouth over the internet, that was no longer possible.
"Back in the '80s and '90s you had a piece of crap movie you put a trailer with a lot of explosions and it was Wednesday before people knew your movie was shit," he said.
"But now what happens is 10 minutes into the movie, people are tweeting 'This is shit, go see Vin Diesel'."
He also said: "I have to be in tune with (fans') needs and not trick them into going to see Wild Wild West."
