Kiwi act Broods have made a splash with their new song overseas.

The electro-pop duo, Nelson-born siblings Georgia and Caleb Nott, made an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden to perform their latest single, Free.

The two performed for a cheering studio audience on the show, but online comments from viewers were mixed.

While some loved their performance praising Broods for "sounding amazing live", other fans were not so pleased.

One YouTube user suggested Georgia was relying too much on the song's backing track.

"She is pretty much lip synching isn't she??" they wrote.

"Love the song. But I hate the performance." another added.

But some fans came to the singer's defence, with one writing: "Something's not right ... I saw Broods perform at Clockenflap 2015 and they were fantastic. She's probably very tired or sick?"

Free is the first song fans have had a chance to hear from Broods' forthcoming second album, Conscious which is set for release near the end of June.

Broods will also be hitting the road with a tour of New Zealand starting in July, with tickets on sale now.
