It’s NZ Music Month and the Herald has partnered with NZ On Screen to bring you a music video of a classic New Zealand song every day of the month. Today's flashback was directed by Lee Tamahori for Pacific reggae heroes Herbs.

Today's Music Month Flashback is Sensitive to a Smile by Herbs, from 1987.

Herbs visited sometimes-troubled town Ruatoria that year, bringing music and aroha, and leaving with a mini-documentary and this poignant music video.

A beautiful video for a beautiful song (about beautiful people).

Lee Tamahori, of Once Were Warriors fame, was co-director along with the late John Day, and the clip won Best Music Video at the 1987 New Zealand Music Awards.
