Kiwi duo Broods have followed up the release of their new single Free to announce a brand new album and New Zealand tour.

Nelson siblings Georgia and Caleb Nott's second album, Conscious, will be released on June 24.

Dates in July have been announced for shows in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch.

Broods last performed in the country at the Auckland City Limits Festival before touring with Ellie Goulding in the United States.

The music video for Free was recently released and is the first single from the band's follow-up album. Since its release on Spotify two weeks ago, the track has been streamed more than two million times.

Their debut full length album Evergreen, released in 2014, was produced by Lorde and Sam Smith producer Joel Little. Little returns as executive producer for the band's sophomore album.

"This album is a punch in the face compared to the last one. Evergreen was very subtle and airy, Conscious really goes for the throat." Caleb says.

His sister Georgia and main vocalist for Broods says that artistic control for the band was very important.

"We're very conscious of what we want to do and what kind of impact we want to make. At the end of the day, it's important to have a say over every aspect of your art."

Their last NZ tour was in 2015 and featured a sold out show at Auckland's Town Hall.

Broods will play Christchurch's Horncastle Arena on July 14, Auckland's Vector Arena on July 15 and Wellington's Shed 6 on July 17.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Thursday April 28.
