Actor Rebel Wilson has apologised for tweeting a photo of a woman, along with the words "total scum", after she mistakenly accused her of harassing her grandmother.
The Bridesmaids star had posted a photo of Australian journalist Elizabeth Wilson to her 2.43 million followers, who she accused of repeatedly contacting her grandmother. But it appears she got the wrong Elizabeth Wilson.
Unfortunately there are two Elizabeth Wilson's who have worked for ACP Magazines in Oz (now known as Bauer Media Group), my apologies X— Rebel Wilson (@RebelWilson) February 27, 2016
My utter gratitude to everyone who has been helping with this case and again my apologies to the innocent 'other' Elizabeth Wilson.— Rebel Wilson (@RebelWilson) February 27, 2016
Her actions are so disgraceful and upsetting and she should be shamed for this conduct. Authorities have been contacted.— Rebel Wilson (@RebelWilson) February 27, 2016
I usually don't respond to their awful crap but when someone comes after my innocent grandma, I just have to take action.— Rebel Wilson (@RebelWilson) February 27, 2016
But it appeared the damage has already been done, with Twitter users shaming the actress for her mistake.
"It's the wrong person & completely unfair. Ur grandmother wasnt harassed by this Liz," Katlyn Macdonald posted.
Kayla Gex agreed: "@RebelWilson you have the wrong person. this is so sad. 2 million people have seen her face now and she is such an innocent soul. She is the loveliest person I know."
