Silicon has been dropped from the Laneway Festival in Adelaide after a run-in with police.

The New Zealand musician, Kody Nielson (brother of Unknown Mortal Orchestra's Ruban Nielson), took to Twitter to explain the bizarre incident.

Nielson wrote: "I just got kicked out of @lanewayfest and fined for kissing a cops gun during our set. Your guns are useless. Peace!."

He went on to apologise to his fans for not being able to perform: "Sorry to our fans but we've been pulled from @lanewayfest because of this stupid gun incident. F**k (sic) Lameway festival and f**k (sic) the police."

Laneway Festival has declined to comment on the situation.
