Two contestants on The Block: Villa Wars have revealed the poor personal hygiene habits rife on the TV3 reality show.
In an interview with Woman's Day, Taranaki contestant Cat Glass admits she and her partner of five years Jeremy Hill wear the same clothes for three days and only have a chance to shower every 48 hours.
She's even worn mascara for an entire week.
The pair are fighting it out on the home renovation show against three other couples, under extreme time pressures to complete challenges ahead of room reveals and a live auction at the end of the season.
Contestants have revealed to the Herald they often work through the night and sleep very little. When they do, they collapse onto a mattress on the floor with no sheets while still wearing the clothes they are working in.
Glass admits she hasn't had time to change into any of the outfits she packed to wear on the show.
"I knew I was going to be on TV, so I packed my bags full of outfits that were practical, but also kind of 'construction-site chic'," she tells Woman's Day.
"By the end of day one, it was anything goes. It gets pretty gross - we only shower every couple of days and end up wearing the same clothes for three days."
The pair joked about it during last night's episode when they embraced at the end of a challenge. Cat said she'd brushed her teeth before they kissed, while Jeremy said he hadn't.
"Cat jokes that now I've finally seen her at her worst," Jeremy jokes to the mag.
"But if she smells as much as she says, I must be as bad because I don't notice a thing."
