Hip Hop star Chris Brown has seemingly hit back at claims he will not be allowed into Australia because of his assault on former girlfriend Rihanna.
The Don't Judge Me singer, 26, posted a message via his Instagram page with an official message attached about an hour ago.
"Contrary to media reports, Chris Brown's request to enter Australia on tour has not been denied,'' the message reads.
"The request is currently being considered by the office of the Immigration Minister. We respect their right to review this request and have faith that a decision will be made with the full consideration of his continued personal growth, ongoing philanthropic endeavors and desire to perform for his fans.''
The message goes on to point out that the singer - who infamously assaulted Rihanna in 2009 - has toured in Australia twice and was now "looking forward to returning in December.''
Meanwhile, the announcement of Brown's one-off show in Auckland later this year - as part of his world tour - has sparked outrage and calls to reject him from entering the country.
Former Justice Minister Judith Collins has particularly been vocal about the singer's wish to perform in New Zealand, saying: "He can be rich, famous and sing back in his own country, as far as I am concerned. He is just another wife-beater.''
Fans of Brown's music - known as Team Breezy - have defended the singer, who was sentenced to five years' probation, 180 days of community labour and had to undergo a 12-month domestic violence programme.
Tickets to the December 18 concert at Vector Arena, in Auckland, remain on sale. Promoters have promised refunds to fans if the show is cancelled.
