Neil Finn's old family home in the Auckland suburb of Parnell has failed to sell at auction.
Bidding for the house, at 18 Corunna Avenue, was opened on a vendor bid of $3million and passed in with no bids at the auction this afternoon.
Council valuation for the property is $5.1 million though the auction notice indicated the seller's expectations were below this.
However, the auctioneer did not reveal the reserve price.
Around 20 people were in attendance at the auction of the 114-year-old villa that has five bedrooms, five living areas and three bathrooms and a 480sqm recording studio.
However, none put in a bid for the Victorian-style house which is within walking distance of Parnell Village and Newmarket's retail precinct.
The home is where both the Finn boys grew up and also where Neil Finn wrote and recorded some of his most famous songs, including Not the Girl You Think You Are, She Will Have Her Way, and Won't Give In.
Neil Finn was not at the auction.
The adjacent property at 15 Corunna Ave, which the Finn family also owns, is valued at $4.9 million dollars and had been sold prior to the auction.
