Winter rain came close to spoiling ex-All Black Nick Evan's wedding ceremony.
The rugby player, who is based in London playing for the Harlequins, married his partner of five years Sally McLennan in a Queenstown ceremony, Woman's Weekly reports.
The wedding was thrown into doubt though as it was raining non-stop for five days beforehand.
McLannen said that they always knew the weather would be out of their hands.
"If I can control something, damn it, I will! But this time, I don't have a choice," he told WW.
Fortunately, the weather cleared on the day of the ceremony, which took place at the Mount Soho Winery, and the wedding went ahead.
Evans and McLannen met around 13 years ago when Sally's father was coaching rugby for Takapuna and Evans was playing for North Harbour.
The two got married in front of friends and family, with their two-year-old son Harry and McLannen's daughter Olivia taking part.
Despite being based in England, the couple couldn't wait to come back to New Zealand for the ceremony.
"It's really lovely that so many people have travelled to get here. We always knew we wanted to do it here - we're proud Kiwis."
