Mariah Carey "never has any normal interactions" and lives life in an exclusive bubble, claims the singer's ex-boyfriend who has spilled intimate details about their life together.
Damion Young, the star's ex-boyfriend who worked with Carey, 45, on hits such as I Still Believe and Irresistible, has revealed the multi-platinum-selling singer doesn't have normal social interactions with others because of her fame.
He told the Daily Mail: "Mariah lives inside a bubble. I lived inside her world for a while but I had to get out for my own sanity.
"The thing I remember most about being with her was the quiet and the loneliness. She didn't have many friends."
Young said Carey leads a surreal existence that he ultimately found "frightening".
The record producer told the Daily Mail newspaper: "She never even sees a bell person, never has any normal interactions. The only time she sees her fans they are screaming and pushing to get at her. It's frightening. It's life in a bubble."
Among Young's claims are revelations that Carey once took him to Korea to watch Michael Jackson perform, and that she and Jackson swapped accounting tips side-of-stage while he changed between songs.
He also claims he travelled with Carey to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico because she "fancied some sun" but it wasn't hot enough so they flew to Acapulco in her Gulfstream jet - where it was one degree warmer.
"Next day she wanted to go to Disney World, so we got back in the plane and headed for Florida," he said.
He also claims Carey has four giant walk-in wardrobes - one is dedicated to lingerie, another to shoes. He says she walks around her apartment on tip-toes because her legs are so used to wearing high heels.
"Even at home she would walk around on tippy-toes when she was barefoot. She used to say she'd worn heels for so long her legs didn't work unless she was wearing them."
Despite the failure of their relationship, Damion revealed he's still in love with the singer, who has four-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan with her estranged husband Nick Cannon.
He admitted: "I loved her then and I love her now."
