New Zealand fans are getting to see one version of veteran hit British reggae act UB40 this summer, while Australian fans are seeing another.
The UB40 featuring singer Ali Campbell - a past judge on New Zealand's Got Talent - is heading to NZ to play "The Red Red Wine Vineyard Tour" at local wineries between January 7 and January 16.
Meanwhile, the UB40 fronted by Campbell's brothers Robin and Duncan, is heading to Australia from November 12 to 28.
It's not known yet whether the Oz-bound UB40 will be heading to New Zealand as well.
Ali Campbell's band, which played at Raggamuffin last year, also features original UB40 members Terence "Astro" Wilson and Mickey Virtue.
Robin Campbell's band features originals, bassist Earl Falconer, saxophonist Brian Travers, drummer Jimmy Brown and percussionst Norman Hassan.
The two factions are involved in a protracted legal stoush in UK over use of the band name.
Robin Campbell claims he and his band have the rights to the name because Ali and Virtue departed the group in 2008, followed by Wilson in 2013.
Both sides have labelled each other a UB40 tribute band.
Robin Campbell told The Daily Mirror: "Ali is selling tickets as UB40 when he isn't. He's taken our name because he can't sell tickets on his own. They are perfectly entitled to play any UB40 tracks they like. What they are not entitled to do is to pretend they are UB40."
Before his band's Raggamuffin appearance in Auckland Ali Campbell told the Herald on Sunday: "The other UB40 is a headless chicken, a completely rudderless ship.
"I am the original UB40 singer and writer so if anyone wants to see the real band, come and see us."
