Tickets for the Foo Fighters' surprise show at the Town Hall on Friday night have been snapped up in just half an hour.
The charity show was only announced on Wednesday, and is a smaller prequel to the stadium rocking act's much larger show at Mt Smart Stadium on Saturday night.
While up to 35,000 people are expected at Mt Smart, just 2350 tickets went on sale to the Town Hall show at midday today, and were snapped up within 30 minutes.
They cost between $160-$199 and proceeds are going to the New Zealand Music Foundation. Tough anti-scalping measures are in place.
It's a rare chance to see the Foos in a relatively intimate venue, where they'll be showcasing songs from Sonic Highways, the new album that doubled as an eight-part HBO documentary.
It's also a sequel to their Christchurch earthquake benefit show in 2011, an epic three-hour gig Grohl called "one of the best shows we ever played".
The Foos kicked off their New Zealand tour at AMI Stadium in Christchurch last night, playing to 27,000 fans.
