After several false starts and delays, Pirates of the Caribbean will set sail again, with Walt Disney Studios announcing the release date for the fifth instalment in the franchise.
Disney have revealed Pirates of the Caribbean 5 will hit cinemas in July 2017, with Kon Tiki directors Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg taking the helm.
The franchise famously stars Johnny Depp as the rum-loving pirate Captain Jack Sparrow and has earned US$3.7 billion at the worldwide box office since The Curse of the Black Pearl released in 2003.
Pirates of the Caribbean 5 was originally meant for a 2015 release, but problems with the script pushed back its release.
The movie will take to the high seas sans its producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who ended his long-time deal with Disney last year and has since moved to Paramount.
