Two and a Half Men is coming to an end.

The current season of long-running TV comedy Two and a Half Men will be the last.

Network bosses at CBS in America have confirmed the series will end later this year, but there are a few surprises in store for fans.

Network president Nina Tassler revealed the show's creator Chuck Lorre has a "season long event" to close the show, adding, "He's very psyched about this. He's got some great ideas in store and some very big surprises".

The sitcom first aired in 2003 and became an instant ratings success in America.

The show is currently in its 12th season.

Original star Charlie Sheen was fired in 2011 following a spat with Lorre, and his role was filled by Ashton Kutcher.

Child star Angus T Jones departed the show last year after criticising story lines and themes in a video message posted online.

Pretty in Pink star Jon Cryer, who has been with the show from the start, will appear in the final scenes, opposite Kutcher and newcomer Amber Tamblyn.
