Lorde's hit single Team has reached the number one spot on the US Billboard Adult Pop Songs list.

According to USA Today, the singer is now the first female artist in Billboard history to dominate Triple A charts with two songs.

Lorde is an avid Twitter user and took to the platform earlier to show her appreciation.

She tweeted: "Pretty amazing that team is number one on the pop charts in the states this week.. thankyou so much. my pop princess status is REAL."

Team has taken out One Direction's Story of My Life and Pharrell's hit Happy.

The 17-year-old's Grammy award winning song Royals still is going strong on the music chart.

Earlier it was reported The Westboro Baptist Church had planned to picket Lorde's Kansas show.
