She turned her back on the music industry to start a family. But it seems the joy of motherhood hasn't curbed Lily Allen's sharp tongue.
The singer has launched a scathing attack on her former showbusiness friends, claiming they abandoned her after she became pregnant and stopped going to parties.
Describing them as 'a bunch of sterile ****ing Botoxed idiots', the pop star likened her exclusion from their clique to being bullied at school.
Miss Allen announced that she was taking a break from touring and recording in 2010 because she was disillusioned with the music business and wanted to start a family.
The 28-year-old singer - who now has two children - said: "I thought the people in that showbiz circle were my friends.
"Almost the second I got pregnant and wasn't able to go out and party, they were suddenly quite nasty.
"There's a way those people survive and it's not by being nice. They make themselves feel powerful by ostracising other people."
She added: "I feel blessed to be able to recognise that, but at the same time it can still feel pretty s**t when you walk into a room full of people and you can feel the eyes looking at you and people laughing."
Miss Allen, the daughter of actor Keith Allen, added: "I'd had enough of people constantly hacking at me. I was at the end of my tether. Once you're exhausted physically and mentally it does get you down."
And she insisted that her upcoming album would be more low-key, saying: "I'm not trying to take over the world here. I don't want to be Rihanna. I want to live my life."
