A popular radio DJ accidentally sent a photo of his genitals to a Kiwi Paralympian - and appears likely to get away without disciplinary action.
The Edge morning host Dom Harvey sent the photo to London Paralympic gold medallist Sophie Pascoe through the Snapchat social media tool, which shows a picture for a set length of time before disappearing, so the viewer cannot keep it.
Harvey says the picture was intended for his radio producer Sophie Hallwright and he immediately apologised to Pascoe - who was in Canada, competing at the IPC Championship swimming meet.
Pascoe tweeted about the incident before winning gold in the 100m freestyle in world record time. "Just finished eating dinner and opened Snapchat. #awkward surprise."
She told the Herald on Sunday that she did not want to talk about the photo.
Harvey's apology also contained questionable language, referring to Pascoe's marketing with NZ beef and lamb.
"So sorry about that Snapchat. I know you like beef and lamb ... but nobody deserves a surprise pork sausage."
Harvey's employer, Mediaworks, condemned the incident, but won't take action. Programme director Leon Wratt said: "It was a stupid thing to do.
"No one feels stupider than Dom himself but he has apologised. No disciplinary action is planned."
The incident has shades of US politician Anthony Weiner, who had to resign after sharing risque pictures of a body part with up to six women.
Harvey has made a career of saying outrageous things on Twitter. He rubbished female rappers, linked an eliminated contestant on X Factor to child molestation and fell out with celebrities Sally and Jaime Ridge by making up a joke about partner swapping.
In 2010 he was suspended following a song about the lesbian relationship of TV presenter Ali Mau.
