Rihanna is grieving after her grandmother Clara Dolly Brathwaite passed away on Saturday night.

The singer took to Twitter to announce the sad news and pay tribute to her beloved "grangran Dolly". She also posted numerous pictures on instagram of herself with her grandmother, who died in New York after battling cancer.

"Goodbye #grangranDolly get your beauty rest until I see you," she wrote on her profile.

One of the pictures shows the pop star as a young girl, posing with a happy and healthy Clara as she sneakily holds up two fingers to create the famous 'Bunny Ears' look behind her grandmother's head.

Amongst the condolences that have been flooding in for the singer were tweets from Rihanna's ex-boyfriend Chris Brown and his mother Joyce.

"Praying for family and the lost loved one. She was like my grandmother. Love you GRAN GRAN! RIP." Brown said.

"ANGEL MAY GOD BE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY IN YOUR TIME OF SORROW. LOVE YOU ANGEL," Joyce wrote.

Rihanna as spent recent weeks jetting back and forth to New York to spend as much time with her beloved relative as possible.
