Kiwi comedian Rhys Darby has confirmed that a Flight of the Conchords movie is in the pipeline.
Rumours about the movie spread while Bret McKenzie, who along with Jemaine Clement starred in two seasons of the hit HBO comedy show, was promoting the recent Muppets movie.
"We're gonna try and do a movie. We just need a story," McKenzie was reported as saying by totalfilm.com.
Talking to local radio station George FM this morning, Darby - who played hapless band manager Murray on the Conchords, a role that helped launch his Hollywood movie career - confirmed plans for a movie.
"I can say in all faith we have connected, recently we've talked, and the boys do want to make one," he told radio host Nick D.
"It's just a matter of finding time. I think next year pen will hit paper."
Darby has had several high-profile movie roles since the Conchords ended, including the Jim Carrey film Yes Man, Kiwi comedy Love Birds and British comedy The Boat That Rocked.
But his career hit a bump when the sitcom How to be a Gentleman was axed earlier this year after just several episodes.
McKenzie has kept busy of late writing three songs for the Muppets movie and filming a cameo in Peter Jackson's Hobbit films.
Clement has starred in several high-profile movies, including Dinner For Schmucks, Predicament and the upcoming Men In Black III.
