Next year's Auckland Arts Festival lineup announcement is being made tonight with the programme for the three weeks of theatre, dance, music and visual arts hitting the streets tomorrow.
The fest's big names are being kept under wraps but there's at least one jazz legend and one master craftsman of rock songwriting in there, we hear.
And the festival's organisers have confirmed one name early to TimeOut - Martha Wainwright.
The daughter of the Canadian Wainwright/McGarrigle musical dynasty is making her second Auckland appearance during the festival, playing the Auckland Town Hall on Wednesday, March 9.
She comes here after the recent visit of her brother Rufus Wainwright who was booked to play the NZ Festival of the Arts in Wellington at the beginning of the year but postponed due to the death of their mother, folk star Kate McGarrigle.
Martha Wainwright's most recent album was a set of lesser-known Edith Piaf songs but her live show will also draw from her own - and her family's - extensive songbook.
