Oscars profile: Richard Jenkins

Richard Jenkins is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in The Visitor. He plays the part of Walter, a lonely widower whose life is transformed when he finds two illegal immigrants occupying his New York apartment. To date he has won several awards for the role - the Satellite Award, Spotlight Award and the Silver St George (at the Moscow Film Festival).

Jenkins has directed and acted in a number of films, but The Visitor is his first starring role. Some of his films include Burn After Reading, The Kingdom, I Heart Huckabees and Cheaper by the Dozen.
