It's official: Prince William and Kate Middleton are all go - at least that's what the women's magazines say.

This week Woman's Day has the princess-in-waiting on its cover, smiling cheekily with her hands clasped as if in prayer, showing off a truly enormous bit of sparkle.

Wills and his "queen" made their first public appearance as a couple, with the Prince said to be "hovering attentively" by Kate, who wore a plunging coral-pink silk halter dress to a charity event. A guest said: "Kate really enjoyed it. It was the perfect evening."

Apparently at one point she came face to face with Wills' ex, Kenyan-born Jecca Craig, but onlookers said there apparently was "no animosity ... Kate isn't fazed, any jealousy is long gone", a source said.

In other "Kate" news - Katie Holmes, the poor thing, seems to be facing another stream of problems, with hubby Tom Cruise buying a $45 million fortress, complete with video surveillance equipment including tiny cameras hidden in lights and wall switches aimed at "keeping the family safe from stalkers and anti-Scientology fanatics". Hmm ...

The Day tells us that Tom has become "very aware" of how vulnerable the family is to potential kidnappers, stalkers and crazed fans.

As well as three panic rooms, a source says "there will be codes and devices that only Tom will have the secret information to operate". Katie can't drive herself around town, since Tom wants her to be followed everywhere.

"Katie is living the life of a queen, but that of a queen trapped in a castle," the source tells.

Woman's Day gives us a real-life tale of a woman who has been a bridesmaid, wait for it - 33 times - not including when she was a "junior bridesmaid".

The Woman's Weekly has the lovely Oprah on its cover, with news of her struggling with her weight - again. Princess-in-waiting Kate Middleton gets in trouble with the grandmother (aka the Queen) - again.

The true reason George Clooney split from his girlfriend Sarah Larson is also revealed. The Weekly tells us that Larson would talk to media about the couple's relationship and seems to have been "exploiting her girlfriend status to advance her career". Ouch.

Apparently George was "ready to move on" long before he broke up with her, but waited until after they made their last appearance at a swanky do to ditch her, as she had had an Armani gown especially made. Double ouch.

New Idea has Troy Flavell, wife Cherie and their gorgeous daughter India splashed on its cover, revealing their plans to expand their family and to move overseas. Cherie tells how young India spilled the news that "mummy is having a baby" to her dad and Troy reveals why he gave up the All Black jersey.

What Not To Wear star Trinny Woodall's marriage is said to be over, reportedly splitting from multimillionaire Johnnie Elichaoff.
