Here's a theory; if Prince was a woman - and from Sweden - then Little Dragon's singer Yukimi Nagano might be looking for a new job.
Three years after the glorious Ritual, Nabuma Rubberband is album No. 4 from the Swedish synthpop quartet. And it is almost unapologetically dripping with the kind of vibe only the Artist Formerly Known As could deliver.
Nowhere is it more noticeable than on Cat Rider. The tracks slow, steady beat and sexy cat call smothers you, slowly floating away to somewhere else.
It is the pinnacle of Nagano's breathy, delicate vocals on an album packed with slow jams; albeit slow jams with spunk, rather than the electronic pop the group is better known for.
There's even a spot of strings delivered by the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra.
But this isn't to say the dance-in-your-seat tunes aren't there, they are just used sparingly this time around. The suffocating bass of Klapp Klapp makes you want to do just that, while Paris is a truly sassy little number. Only One is a slow starter, but builds to a true house music crescendo.
This isn't the Swedish pop music that instantly comes to mind when you think of those blonde Nordic wonders. No, this is smarter, edgier and with added funk.
Little Dragon, Nabuma Rubberband (Because Music)
Verdict: Sexy Swedish synthpop
