Four people have been injured, two of them seriously, in a car crash this afternoon.
Police said a single vehicle crashed and all four occupants hurt in the incident on State Highway 12 north of Dargaville, Northland.
"A rescue helicopter will be transporting some of the injured to hospital. Serious crash investigators are travelling to the scene," police said in a statement this afternoon.
The Fire Service said a four-wheel-drive had crashed and was in a paddock.
A Fire Service spokesman understood two people were trapped in the car.
Two fire engines from Dargaville were at the scene, just south of the Waipoua Kauri Forest on the west side of Northland.
State Highway 12 was closed and motorists were advised to take alternative routes to avoid delays.
