Two of the most popular actors on TV's Shortland Street are taking on a new look.
Pua Magasiva, who plays Nurse Vinnie Krause-Miller, and Jarod Rawiri, Moutere "Mo" Hannah, will don wigs, make-up and bespangled evening wear to join Dragon's Diva Den as special guest female impersonators.
Magasiva will follow in the high heels of brother Robbie, who made a guest appearance in Dragon's Den as part of the Auckland Pride festival.
The show usually takes place as a monthly cabaret-style event at the Basement Theatre.
It was started by performer Bryony Skillington who was working in hospitality, not enjoying it much and thought about what she'd rather do: "It was singing, dancing and dressing up in crazy costumes. That's how I had the idea."
She created a character called Lola La Bomb who, for the Auckland Arts Festival show, will be joined by drag queens Trenyce Bhone and Arabia Le Veil. They'll transform Magasiva and Rawiri who will perform alongside dancers and female impersonators to celebrate divas from Britney to Whitney and everyone in between.
