A man wielding a knife but no shoes has made off with cash after robbing a Pita Pit in Napier.
At 10am on Sunday a man entered the eatery on the corner of Kennedy Rd and Georges Drive demanding money from the sole staff member while holding a knife.
The staff member gave the man cash, whereafter he headed in the direction of Thackery St.
He was wearing dark-coloured clothing, gloves, one black sock and one white sock with no shoes and carrying a black Puma backpack.
Detective Sergeant Craig Vining said it was likely the offender lives close by or was picked up by a car given his lack of footwear.
"There were plenty of people in the area who may now recall seeing him and the fact he has come into money will be sign for his family and associates."
"The victim did everything right and was not harmed during the robbery."
Police would like to hear from anyone who recognises this man, or was in the area at the time and has information that might help.
"We are very keen to speak to anyone who may be able to assist the investigation and get this guy off the street." Vining said.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Napier Central Police Station on (06) 831 0700 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
