An Auckland man has been charged with indecent assault following allegations of sexual misconduct with at least one young child.
The man, in his 50s, will appear in court next month.
The man was working at an Auckland school when the allegations were made in September.
The Herald revealed that police had started an investigation into the man after the school's board of trustees held an emergency meeting to address the allegations.
A suppression order prevents the Herald from publishing the man's name, the school where he was employed and other details that could identify him or his alleged victim.
Detective Senior Sergeant Colin Higson could not comment further on the specifics of the charge or allegations as the matter was before the courts.
"Police cannot rule out the possibility that further charges will be laid," he said.
