A senior Head Hunters gang member has been denied bail.
Police yesterday confirmed they had arrested and charged a 59-year-old man in relation to alleged possession of methamphetamine for supply. He can now be named as Phillip McFarland.
The roofer, who lives in Wellington, applied for bail today but Judge Nevin Dawson rejected the bid.
Details of today's hearing in Auckland District Court cannot be published.
Detectives from the Auckland Organised Crime Unit carried out a search warrant at the Head Hunters headquarters in View Rd, Henderson, on Wednesday morning, police said.
The senior gang member was not found, but contact was made with him and he turned himself in at the Auckland Central Police Station yesterday.
The charge relates to a search warrant that police carried out at a motel in the Christchurch suburb of Sockburn in early March.
Police said they would continue to target organised crime groups in the fight against the supply and distribution of methamphetamine throughout New Zealand.
McFarland will appear again in court next month where he will be expected to enter a plea to the charge.
