An 11-year-old girl is being hunted by police in connection to a string of burglaries in Invercargill.
Police said they were investigating "a large number" of daylight burglaries in the south Invercargill area.
The majority of the thefts have come back to a youngster identified as an 11-year-old girl who approaches homeowners with a fabricated story to get inside their homes.
The items she is accused of taking and believed to be targeting are jewellery, wallets and cellphones.
Police said she is also known to be walking into unlocked houses and taking items -- while people are at home.
"Police remind the public to ensure that their homes and vehicles are secured at all times."
