A 21-year-old man has been arrested after an aggravated robbery which left a service station attendant with stab wounds to the head, face and arm on Sunday.
Police said a person with their face covered entered the Mobil service station in Levin about 4.30am armed with what is believed to have been a knife.
The offender stabbed the male attendant and stole cigarettes from the scene.
The attendant suffered cuts that weren't life threatening and called emergency services.
A 21-year-old Levin man was arrested in relation to the incident after police received information he was at an address in Levin about 1am today, Detective Mike Deegan said.
He has been charged with aggravated robbery and wounding and is due to appear in the Levin District Court today.
Mr Deegan said the actions of officers and information provided by the public ensured a quick catch.
"Police want to thank the public and media who helped greatly with our appeal for information. We are very grateful for the assistance which has led to this arrest."
The service station attendant was taken to Palmerston North Hospital in a stable condition.
