A 17-year-old man has been arrested after a spate of street robberies in central Wellington.
Police said the string of robberies, where a man walking alone through the city were threatened or assaulted by a group of two to four males demanding possessions and money, had been occurring since mid-June.
Detective Sergeant Haley Ryan said police were able to identify one of the offending males using CCTV footage through "good police investigative work".
Search warrants executed on Friday morning resulted in a number of the stolen items being located, she said.
Police are continuing investigations to identify the other males responsible.
"The victims in each of these crimes were understandably very shaken and the Wellington Police are determined to identify and locate those responsible and hold them to account for their actions," she said.
Police believe the group of males may also be responsible for other similar incidents that have not been reported, she said.
