A woman who pleaded guilty to concealing more than $18,000 worth of P inside her body is making "very positive" progress to beat her addiction.
Kylie Puna, 27, who admitted two charges relating to possessing methamphetamine for supply, appeared in Auckland District Court today.
Her lawyer Maria Pecotic briefed Judge Nicola Mathers on her client's progress in a residential rehabilitation facility, in which she has completed 64 days of a 118-day treatment programme.
Judge Mathers said she was "very pleased" with the positive steps Puna had made.
"Obviously there are some issues you still have to deal with, but you understand what those issues are, and the report is very positive," she said.
"I hope you can continue on the path to recovery that you are on at the moment."
From the dock, Puna replied: "Thank you."
Puna was detained after a drug run ended with a police chase and a crash in Christchurch in November last year.
She was found to be concealing 18.2g of methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $18,200.
Puna was remanded on bail to continue her rehabilitation programme. She will be back in court in October, when she will either be sentenced or sent back to rehab.
