The family of a man killed during a stabbing spree in Wellington have today paid tribute to a "dear dad and loving husband".
Noel Hudson Garratt, 67, died during the incident in Broderick Rd, Johnsonville, on Wednesday. He was known as Hudson.
Five other people, including a woman accused of the attack, were injured.
"We would like to express our deep sadness and grief at the passing of our dear dad and loving husband, Hudson Garratt," Mr Garratt's family said in a statement today.
"He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. His selfless love and care for so many people will leave a void that will be difficult to fill," the family added.
Mr Garratt was a religious man, the family said.
"Hudson had a love for God that was expressed in the way he lived and cared for others. We would like to honour him in this regard.
"We view his death as nothing other than a tragic event and only wish to express our sadness regarding what has happened.
"To all those affected by this tragedy we would like to pass on our love and sympathy."
