A woman and her elderly mother were allegedly repeatedly punched by a man during a road rage incident in Sydney's west earlier this month.
Police say a 77-year-old woman was driving in Blacktown on May 4 when a man driving a 4WD behind her honked his horn when she failed to drive through an intersection because of safety concerns.
It's alleged the 40-year-old man walked up to the car at the following intersection and began hitting the passenger window and door.
He then opened the door and punched a 58-year-old woman in the face a number of times.
The 77-year-old woman was also allegedly punched in the arm as she tried to protect her daughter.
The elderly woman suffered swelling and bruising to her arm, as well as a cut to her hand, while her daughter suffered minor injuries to her face.
Police said the 40-year-old offender turned himself in to Blacktown Police Station on Friday and he was charged with six offences including common assault, intimidation and menacing driving.
He was granted bail to appear before Blacktown Local Court on June 10.
